Effective for the benefit of the patient
Exploiting potentials to facilitate transformation
Healthcare
Context
The healthcare sector is undergoing a profound transformation. Organisations and actors face major transformations. The quality requirements are high and are further growing. The spectrum of services is already differentiated and keeps expanding steadily. The cost pressure is high and continues to rise, etc. Networks, cooperations and mergers characterise the strong efforts of the decision makers to bundle and summarise.
At the heart of all these developments is the task of optimising performance and consistently redesigning it for the sake of the patient. A major concern is the advancing professionalisation and specialisation, "doing more for less", and delivering more effective and efficient services. At the same time, it is important to minimise risks, not just financial risks, but also in particular patient and clinical risks. Added to this is the challenge of covering one's own personnel requirements, developing training programs and creating new job profiles.
The key to addressing these issues lies in optimising collaboration and developing forms of Governance that can make the most of the available potential. The participating employees and executives must be empowered to optimally identify and exploit these potentials. This requires the development of collaborative, i. coordinated skills under optimal conditions. It requires measures with which the Gordian knot of entanglements can be resolved. DialogG addresses these issues and requirements.
Areas for development
1. Effective interprofessional collaboration
The different professional backgrounds and perspectives of doctors, nurses and management are a constant challenge. The strong professionalisation of the occupational groups complicates the integration of collaboration.
With DialogG, a differentiated and at the same time manageable redesign can be achieved through shared clarification and development of roles as well as the modus of collaboration. The alignment takes place consistently along the activities for the benefit of the patient.
2. Exploitation of strategic potentials
Foresight requires the ability to identify trends, evaluate innovations, and prioritise, plan, and implement strategic options. DialogG establishes a comprehensive and collaborative strategic process. Doctors, nurses and administration as well as committees and departments are systematically interrelated.
The result is the collective capability to identify necessary developments, innovations and success potentials and to implement them in a timely manner. As a result, the strategic capabilities within the organisation are developed and substantially upgraded.
3. Excellence in quality
For many organisations in healthcare, Quality management is required by law. Many facilities have their quality procedures certified, e.g. according to ISO 9001, SanaCERT or the German KTQ system. The challenges lie in meeting the manifold requirements of QM approaches and in involving the employees in quality management, which - in addition to the formal certification - also leads to a noticeable improvement in the quality of the patient services. The greatest potential for improving quality lies in the design of a Quality Governance that defines conditions of optimal collaboration.
DialogG supports the optimal embedding of quality control and collaboration through the shared understanding and transparency that already exists in working together in quality-related activities. The requirements can be prioritised and balanced, and the relationship to the organisation as a whole and to the well-being of the patients ensures the integration of quality management into the overall purpose of a facility.
4. Shared competencies in dealing with near-patient risks
